Acupuncture for Musculoskeletal Pain, Tension & Injuries

Musculoskeletal Pain, Tension & Injuries

Acupuncture, combined with associated therapeutic techniques such as cupping and diagnostic massage, may assist with acute and chronic pain, joint pain, headaches, sports injury rehabilitation, muscular stress and tension and surgical recovery. Your Acupuncturist may also advise lifestyle modifications in adjunction to your Acupuncture treatment, including a period of rest or modified activity, the addition of regular exercise or relaxation techniques to improve the nervous system response and slight modifications to your eating and drinking habits as per Chinese dietary theory. Small modifications during your active treatment regime will ensure you get the most out of your Acupuncture sessions.

Acupuncture for Digestion

Digestive Health

Acupuncture is well regarded as a natural way to help regulate the digestive system. Aus Acu treatments may help reduce signs and symptoms of a variety of digestive complaints, such as bloating and constipation. By reducing stress, Aus Acu treatments may also help manage symptoms of other digestive concerns such as IBS, Crohn’s Disease and other inflammatory bowel conditions.

Acupuncture for Infertility

Infertility & Women’s Health

Our Fertility and Women’s Health Specialist uses ancient Chinese Medicine techniques combined with current research-based treatment protocols and a compassionate, individualised treatment program assist with infertility, and women’s health concerns. Aus Acu treatments may improve the symptoms of such menstrual conditions as Amenorrhoea (absent menstruation), Dysmenorrhoea (painful menstruation) and Metorrhagia (irregular menstruation,) as well as PCOS and Endometriosis. Please note, often we will work alongside your Specialist or General Practitioner where needed, and we may request you visit your Doctor first for blood testing and/or ultrasound as needed to rule out concerns which Acupuncture may not be suitable to treat. Acupuncture is well respected in the fertility field for it’s remarkable effect on assisting with infertility, as well as its ability to assist with the process of In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF). For these conditions, ensure you let us know when booking your appointment so that we can assign one of our Fertility and Women’s Health specialists to your Initial Consultation.

Acupuncture for Paediatric Health

Paediatric Health

Children are susceptible to a range of paediatric conditions which can bring sickness, illness and disease on quickly. Likewise, their energetic lifestyle can sometimes result in injury or pain. In addition to your regular GP or Specialist visits, or as a part of your normal health regime, consulting with our Paediatric Specialist is a great way to naturally help reduce stress, improve sleep or assist with digestive upsets for the youngest member of your family. Acupuncture is suitable for all ages from babies to teens, and depending on the age and case we may use needles or a combination of Acupressure (diagnostic massage) plus non-invasive techniques to achieve the same effect as Acupuncture without the needles. Our Paediatric Acupunturist holds a current Blue Card for working with children and has completed postgraduate studies in the field of Paediatric Acupuncture. Research for Paediatric Acupuncture treatments is limited, so in circumstances where we believe Acupuncture may not be suitable or appropriate, we will refer to other health care professionals.

Acupuncture for Stress

Stress

Mental, physical and emotional stress is believed to be one of the most prevalent factors that can contribute to pain, disease and ill-health. De-stress occurs when our body is pushed out of its comfort zone either by trauma, (acute) or repetition, (chronic) occurrences.  Along with lifestyle adjustments and relaxation, Aus Acu treatments may help reduce your body’s elevated stress hormones (cortisol/adrenaline) to intern help reduce inflammation, pain and anxiety. Additionally, with regular treatments, you may begin to feel more calm and grounded in times of stress.

Acupuncture for Back Tension & Pain

Back Tension & Pain

Back pain is debilitating, frustrating and often prevents sufferers from undertaking common daily tasks. Whether it is sharp or aching, lower or upper or a combination of these factors, back pain may be a sign that there is a problem in another area of the body. Acupuncture has many different ways to address the signs, symptoms and causes of back pain which most other medical modalities overlook. For example, we often use heat (infra-red heat lamp) to increase the flow of oxygenated blood and promote healthy inflammation, as well as to soften muscle tissue and promote relaxation and self-healing. Aus Acu also uses Cupping Therapy to vacuum out deoxygenated, pooled blood and waste products from deep within the fascia and muscle layers which may be putting additional strain on your body’s healing and recovery. Aus Acu back pain treatments use points which may increase mobility, reduce pain and help with recovery long term. Acupuncture is not a guaranteed ‘fix’ for back pack, so where needed we may refer patients to adjunct modalities such as Physiotherapy, Myo-fascial Therapy and/or Specialist care.

Acupuncture for Men’s Health

Men’s Health

We have male practitioners who specialise in conditions common to male patients. From musculoskeletal pain and stiffness, stress, insomnia, hormonal concerns and pain, Acupuncture is a fantastic therapy for men wanting to keep healthy, active and energetic. Specifically, recent studies suggest Acupuncture may benefit prostate conditions, bladder conditions and hormone imbalances in male patients (studies are ongoing, contact us for specific references).

Acupuncture for Allergies & Immune Conditions

Allergies & Immune Conditions

Aus Acu treatments target troublesome allergic conditions such as allergic and seasonal rhinitis, hay fever, sinusitis and headache. Reactions to food, pollens, animal dander or the environment are becoming more and more common as our cities become busier and our lifestyles more hectic.  By reducing stress, opening the sinus passages, improving digestion and targeting the immune system, Aus Acu may help you feel better, naturally. So contact us to find out more.

Acupuncture for Hearing, Vision & Balance

Hearing, Vision & Balance

By reducing stress and improving blood flow to our sensory organs and our vestibular system, Acupuncture may reduce the symptoms of such conditions as tinnitus, endolymphatic hydrops (Meniere’s disease), vertigo, chronic ear ache, swimmer’s ear, sinusitis and chronic dry eyes. We often use distal points (hands and feet) plus local points (face and ears) to help relieve the signs and symptoms of your condition, as well as dietary adjustments and supplementation.

Acupuncture for Chronic fatigue, Adrenal Fatigue & Low Energy

Chronic Fatigue, Adrenal Fatigue & Low Energy

Chronic elevation of the sympathetic nervous system is often linked to a busy, stressful lifestyle. By improving sleep and reducing stress, symptoms of chronic and/or adrenal fatigue may improve. Acupuncture may be useful to assist with improving energy and nervous system regulation. Contact us for more information, or to view the latest research-based suggested treatment protocols in this exciting field.

Acupuncture for Psoriasis & Eczema

Psoriasis & Eczema

Skin conditions can be frustrating, and strong steroidal medication may not always be the perfect solution to your skin concerns.  Whether it’s from an autoimmune condition, an allergy or other genetic trait, Acupuncture may assist with the signs and symptoms of skin concerns such as dryness, redness, inflammation and itch. Additionally, some studies suggest Acupuncture may be as effective but cheaper and safer than the leading western pharmaceutical treatment for Herpes Zoster (shingles).

Acupuncture for Blood Pressure & Heart Conditions

Blood Pressure & Heart Conditions

The cardiovascular and circulatory systems play a vital role in our health and longevity, however often they remain unchecked until something goes wrong. Many studies have linked heightened stress with elevated blood pressure and increased risk of cardio vascular concerns, so it makes sense that by reducing stress and improving quality of life you can help your body to stay healthier, naturally.

Acupuncture for Metabolic Conditions & Weight Regulation

Metabolic Conditions & Weight Regulation

Acupuncture is not designed as a ‘weight loss’ tool, however, treatments may improve your body’s natural metabolic ability and assist with the ‘rest and digest’ function helping regulate weight loss and gain, naturally. In addition, by assisting to down regulate cortisol (one of our ‘fight or flight’ hormones), you may experience weight loss or a reduction in Adipose tissue, particularly around the mid section as a flow on effect from your Acupuncture.  Treatments are tailored to your specific case, and may include Chinese Herbal Medicine and other supplementation where needed.

Acupuncture for Addiction Recovery

Addiction Recovery

Aus Acu treatments may be tailored to focus on addiction recovery. Clinical trials are currently underway to determine the effectiveness of Acupuncture in the treatment of drug addiction, as well as caffeine and nicotine withdrawal. Some evidence already exists suggesting Acupuncture may play an important role in reducing reinforcing effects of abused drugs. Additionally, Acupuncture may improve cravings and detoxification during withdrawal.
